Sabine Voggenreiter

Sabine Voggenreiter, M.A., studied literature, philosophy and the history of art in Marburg, Germany. She organises and curates exhibitions and arranges competitions, workshops and symposia in the fields of design, architecture, urban design and art. She is the publisher of numerous publications.

In the 1980s she was in charge of the Pentagon Gallery in Cologne. In 1989 she founded the PASSAGEN design festival which takes place each year and has become the largest design event in Germany.

In 1999, together with Kay von Keitz, she established the architecture forum plan – Forum aktueller Architektur in Köln, a flagship project which is part of the building culture initiative of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development of the land North Rhine-Westphalia.

In 2008 she won the EU competition “Create NRW” concerning the development of a creative neighbourhood in Cologne “Design Quartier Ehrenfeld – DQE”.

In 2010 she founded an initiative “Urban Agriculture Ehrenfeld” and one of the first community gardens in Cologne and NRW “Obsthain Grüner Weg”.

2012 she was awarded as “Culture Manager of the Year” of the City of Cologne and was invited to the first Design Biennal Istanbul with the ongoing project “More Than Design” as a partner of Asli Kiyak Ingin`s “Made in Sishane” Project. Together with Ingin she also participated in the second Design Biennal Istanbul 2014 with the project “Design Manual for Tourists” in Istanbul Beyoğlu.

In 2013 she won the KlimaKreis Köln competition with her urban landscape project “Low Line Linear Park” in Ehrenfeld, Cologne.
